This book really hit home for me. Blaser makes it quite clear: we may have annihilated the very bacteria which in the gut of a child protects against asthma and allergies. So yes, it causes big problems for adults with ulcers and possibly colon cancer, but its clear that we have yet to grasp the big picture, complete with all of its implications.  Antibiotics have been a huge boon to health, but at what cost?
